IPOH, Sept 28 — A woman and her son were killed after the motorcycle they were riding skidded before crashing into an electricity pole along Jalan Huntly, Kampung Sungai Batu, near Pantai Remis early yesterday.
Manjung District Police chief ACP Hasbullah Abd Rahman said in the incident at about 12.45 am, the 33-year-old mother was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries.
“The victims were believed to be travelling from Pantai Remis town towards Kampung Sungai Batu when the mother was believed to have lost control of the Honda Vario motorcycle, skidded onto the left shoulder of the road and crashed into a Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) pole.
“Her 10-year-old son also sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby clinic, but was confirmed dead while receiving treatment,” he said in a statement today.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
