, Sept 26 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim today assured individuals relying on RON95 petrol for their livelihoods, such as boat operators and small farmers, that they will not be left out of the Budi95 targeted fuel subsidy scheme.

He said that while fishermen and smallholders already receive special allowances, those using petrol-powered equipment or unregistered boats can appeal for assistance through the Finance Ministry’s portal.

“For example, if someone is not a licensed fisherman but uses a boat in Sarawak, Sabah, — anywhere — and they use RON95 without a licence or registration number, these cases can be considered because the numbers are small.

“I guarantee we will help,” said in his speech at the Finance Ministry’s monthly assembly here.

He added that those operating machinery that rely on RON95 fuel, such as grass-cutters, would also be eligible for consideration.

stressed that the government’s priority was to ensure the subsidy benefits millions of Malaysians while curbing misuse.

He urged critics not to politicise the initiative, stating that it was designed to help “tens of millions of people and their families.”

The Budi95 scheme, which will be implemented nationwide on Sept 30, allows eligible Malaysians to buy subsidised RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre up to 300L a month, after which the prevailing market price — currently set at RM2.60/L — will apply.
