KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 — Still confused about how to go about redeeming your monthly allocation of Budi95 subsidised petrol?
Malay Mail has come up with a primer to explain the multiple payment methods available at its stations.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to refuel using each of the three.
Option 1: Paying at the pump (debit/credit card payment)
- Start the transaction: Tap or insert your debit or credit card at the outdoor payment terminal. You can select either a “full tank” or a specific monetary amount.
- Verify subsidy: Insert your MyKad into the terminal to verify your eligibility for the Budi95 subsidy.
- Refuel: If successful, you may begin fuelling immediately. If the verification fails, you can still refuel, but you will be charged the unsubsidised market price.
- Get receipt: A receipt will be issued for every transaction.
Option 2: Paying at the counter (cash or card)
- Verify subsidy: Present your MyKad to the cashier for subsidy verification.
- Confirm details: Once the subsidy is approved, inform the cashier of your pump number and the amount you wish to refuel.
- Make payment: Pay for your fuel.
- Refuel: Return to your vehicle to begin fuelling. You can collect your printed receipt from the pump.
Option 3: Paying with Touch ‘n Go eWallet
- Open the app: In your Touch ‘n Go eWallet app, select the “BUDI95” feature.
- Select fuel purchase: Tap “Buy Fuel,” confirm your petrol station location, enter your pump number, and specify the amount of petrol you want.
- Pay via app: Proceed to payment within the app, then scan the QR code displayed at the cashier’s counter.
- Refuel: Once payment is confirmed, the pump will be activated for you to begin filling up with subsidised RON95 petrol.
Option 4: Using fuel brands’ apps
For brands such as Petronas with its own Setel app, the process is even more seamless.
- Download the app: Download the application to your device via the Google Playstore or Apple App Store.
- Verify your MyKad: Verify your MyKad as part of the eKYC registration process. This is a one-time step and the verification information will be retained to check your monthly allocation.
- Add payment method: You can opt to prepay into the Setel ewallet that can also be used for retail purchases. Or link an additional debit or credit card for payment.
- Check your pump number: Check that you are at the right station location. Then select the pump you are at in the app.
- Refuel: You can specify the amount of fuel you wish to refuel manually. Or you can register for the one-tap payment that will automatically select a pre-determined amount for all future visits.
What is Budi95?
Starting Sept 30, the Budi95 programme will provide Malaysian citizens with RON95 petrol at a subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre.
Each eligible Malaysian with a valid MyKad and driving licence is entitled to a monthly quota of 300 litres.
Those who do not qualify, such as foreigners, must pay the unsubsidised price of the fuel, which is projected to be around RM2.60 per litre currently.
