DIBIZ, MSPO To Pioneer Tracebility For EUDR Compliance

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 (Bernama) — The sustainability commodities traceability platform, DIBIZ Global, has forged a partnership with the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) to develop its pilot project, eMSPO, which pioneers end-to-end traceability for EUDR compliance.

DIBIZ Global co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Unnikrishnan R. Unnithan said the partnership marks a landmark achievement for MSPO as the world’s first national certification system.

“MSPO has now confirmed its readiness for compliance with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) by adopting the DIBIZ Blockchain technology engine for real-time end-to-end traceability and deforestation metrics.

“This partnership is significant because it covers all stakeholders, especially smallholders whose lives will be enriched by being part of the EUDR-compliant supply chain,” he told Bernama.

Unnithan said the partnership also reaffirms Malaysia’s position as a global leader in agri-commodities and its foresight in adopting cutting-edge blockchain technology for the EUDR and beyond.

“This brings MSPO to a very high global standard that was acknowledged by the EU Commission delegation. Malaysia can now work on getting the entire palm oil industry geared up for EUDR compliance within the stipulated timeline

“It also augurs well as the DIBIZ Blockchain technology can easily be adopted now for Malaysia’s other EUDR commodities like rubber, timber and cocoa under the Ministry of Plantations and Commodities. This is also in line with the Malaysian government’s vision to be a Digital hub of ASEAN,” he said.

According to DIBIZ, with this milestone, the Malaysian palm oil industry is positioned to achieve EUDR compliance well ahead of the Dec 30, 2025, deadline.

The eMSPO system will track every single delivery order and production detail, applying industry-standard product transformation formulas to ensure non-compliant products are never mixed while safeguarding commercial data privacy.

To simplify due diligence, each transaction was verified in real-time against deforestation risk through DIBIZ’s geographic information system (GIS) partner EarthDaily, and anchored immutably on the blockchain. Every due diligence report is verified digitally by DIBIZ’s authentication partner, Control Union, for authenticity.

On Sept 10, the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities announced that the EU officially acknowledged MSPO certification as a credible sustainability standard with a high-standard digital traceability system that could facilitate operators’ compliance with the EUDR.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, said the acknowledgement affirms Malaysia’s leadership in sustainable palm oil, as the MSPO assures legality, cut-off date compliance, and digital traceability, while ensuring more than half a million smallholders are fully part of the sustainability agenda.
