PETALING JAYA:

A former teacher has claimed trial in the Seremban sessions court to the physical sexual assault of a 13-year-old male student in the dormitory of a secondary school in July.

Wan Aliff Wan Sofian, 26, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before judge N Kanageswari, Sinar Harian reported.

He is accused of molesting and kissing the boy in the dorm of the secondary school in Sikamat at around 7.30am on July 26.

The charge, framed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and whipping, upon conviction.

Wan Aliff was allowed to post bail of RM12,000 but ordered to surrender his passport and report to the nearest police station every month until the disposal of the case.

Case mention was set for Oct 23.
