GEORGE TOWN, Sept 23 — Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said more than 13 million people have redeemed the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) credit.

He said many recipients have fully utilised the RM100 credit provided, but some still have a remaining balance.

“As of Saturday (Sept 20), the number of people who have redeemed the SARA credit to purchase basic necessities has exceeded 13 million,” he said after launching the Mega e-Invoice Roadshow 2025 at Menara Hasil here today.

He said some individuals do not spend the entire RM100 in a single purchase.

“If there is a balance, they can continue to use it until the end of this year,” he said.

All Malaysians aged 18 and above are eligible to receive the one-off RM100 credit, which can be redeemed under SARA using their MyKad starting August 31.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim, who announced the programme, said the assistance can be spent from August 31 until December 31.

It can be used to purchase basic necessities at more than 4,100 shops, including major supermarkets such as Mydin, Lotus’s, Econsave and 99Speedmart, as well as grocery stores in all districts nationwide.
