Rain, unstable ground hampered Putra Heights fire probe, says Selangor police chief

SUBANG JAYA: Rain proved to be the biggest challenge faced by investigators at ground zero, where the gas pipeline exploded in Putra Heights here on April 1.

police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said it rained on 20 out of the 28 days since investigations began at the site.

“Once it rained, we would need to spend at least half a day pumping out the stagnant water in the crater before we could resume work to dig out the affected pipe,” he said after allowing reporters to visit the site today.

He said the rain also made the ground unstable, which further slowed down operations at the scene.
