KOTA TINGGI: A supermarket area manager who was killed in a collision at a junction here today had been planning his engagement next year.
Mohd Fakhrurazi Muda, 37, was driving a Perodua Bezza when he collided with a Toyota Vios driven by 47-year-old Intan Yuliana Sahir, a teacher who was also killed in the 7am incident at Km26 Jalan Kulai-Kota Tinggi, near the Semanggar water treatment plant.
Fakhrurazi’s foster mother, Salimah Pit, 65, said he had planned to get engaged in June, after his younger brother’s wedding.
She broke down when recalling his unusual cheerfulness the night before his death.
“He rarely ate much, but yesterday he had such an appetite and kept joking with us.
“He even called me ‘mak’ several times before leaving for work… most of the time he would address me as makcik.
“I never thought it would be the last time,” she said, when met at the Kota Tinggi Hospital forensics unit.
Fakhrurazi, who is from Terengganu, had lived with Salimah for the past eight years and she regarded him as her own son.
Meanwhile, district police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said preliminary investigations revealed the Vios, travelling from Kluang towards Kota Tinggi, veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the Bezza.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a minimum five years’ jail and up to RM50,000 fine upon conviction.
