KUALA LUMPUR: The targeted RON95 subsidy under the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) programme would not only ease the burden of living costs but also strengthen social well-being and contribute to national stability, says Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail.

The Inspector-General of Police extended his deepest appreciation to the government for the implementation of the programme, which will come into effect on Sept 27 for the police and the Armed Forces.

“As a law enforcement institution aligned with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani, the initiative reflects the government’s concern for the welfare of the people.

“It would not only ease the burden of living costs but also strengthen social well-being and contribute to national stability,” he said in a statement on Monday (Sept 22).

The IGP said the strategic move also demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring that assistance reaches the targeted groups fairly and effectively.

“We are confident Budi95 would have a positive impact on its personnel serving across the country, adding that reducing the cost of fuel would directly improve motivation and resilience in carrying out their duties to safeguard public safety and security,” he said.

He also commended the government’s innovative approach of using MyKad verification at petrol stations as the eligibility mechanism, describing it as in line with the nation’s digitalisation efforts.

“This reflects the government’s efforts to optimise technology in ensuring transparent, efficient and sustainable subsidy governance.

“We remain committed to working alongside the government to ensure national security, uphold peace, and elevate Malaysia’s standing on the global stage,” he added.
