KUALA LUMPUR: Award-winning Malaysian rapper and composer Rabbit Mac has made history by producing and recording the official soundtrack for the Hollywood action drama ‘American Warrior’.
Announcing the news on his Instagram account, Rabbit Mac said this marks the first time a Malaysian rapper has composed and produced a soundtrack for an American film.
The project also marks Rabbit Mac’s highly anticipated return to the music scene after a five-year hiatus.
His song ‘Watch Me’, a collaboration with American singer Amore Jones from Los Angeles, serves as the theme song for the movie.
The film, directed by Gustavo Martin, stars Danny Trejo, Veronica Falcon, and Vishy Ayyar.
Rabbit Mac, 42, whose real name is Charles John Macallum, hails from Penang and has three studio albums to his name.
He began his music career two decades ago by remixing English and Tamil songs.
Since then, he has worked with both local and international artistes, contributing to the production of over 50 albums.
Locally, he has provided music for the soundtracks of Malay films such as ‘Senario’ and ‘Ngangkung’ in 2009. He also starred in the 2014 Tamil movie ‘Maindhan’.
