BHPetrol Engine Oil Awarded SIRIM Pure Product Certification

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 (Bernama) — Boustead Petroleum Marketing Sdn Bhd (BHPetrol) engine oil has officially received the SIRIM Pure Product Certification License from SIRIM QAS International, thus further strengthening the brand’s position in the national engine oil market.

The certification covers 30 products across three categories of BHPetrol engine oil, namely SynGard (passenger car engine oil), Trans (commercial and diesel engine oil) and Dash (motorcycle oil).

BHPetrol chief executive officer Azizul Azily Ahmad said the recognition is proof of the company’s commitment to maintaining the quality and standards of its engine oil at the highest level, including protecting consumers.

“BHPetrol responded to the call with full commitment in affirming that our petrol oil is recognised by SIRIM. I believe that this certificate from SIRIM will strengthen the position of BHPetrol engine oil in the market,” he said.

He said this at the presentation of the  SIRIM Certification License  for BHPetrol’s Engine Oil Products, which was witnessed by Boustead Holdings Berhad Group chief executive officer Datuk Indera Dr Ahmad Sabirin Arshad here today

Meanwhile, SIRIM QAS International chief executive officer Md Adha Rahmat said the awarding of the certification license to engine oil allows consumers to identify genuine products by scanning the serial number on the QR code sticker.

“Each label has a serial number, and to avoid any threat of counterfeit products and the use of substandard engine oil, SIRIM has come up with a scanning technology to check the authenticity of the product.

“Users only need to download the SIRIM QAS International application and scan the serial number on the product,” he said.

He said this not only prioritises the interests of consumers but also strengthens the integrity of the product brand, in addition to showing leadership in close cooperation between the industry.

The official SIRIM QR code sticker in light green will begin to be affixed to newly produced and packaged genuine engine oil products while the official SIRIM QR code sticker in light pink will be distributed to BHPetrol business partners to be affixed to existing stock in storage before Oct 7.

BHPetrol, in a statement, said that the sticker is proof that the product complies with the strict quality standards set by SIRIM QAS International, and the oil-producing company is committed to ensuring that the SIRIM labelling implementation process runs smoothly.

“Given that the implementation of the light green and light pink QR code stickers will be carried out in stages, BHPetrol will continue to provide the latest information to business partners, customers, and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, to ensure transparency and full compliance with the SIRIM QAS International genuine product labelling requirements,” it said.

It said this is in line with enforcement actions by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, which stipulates that all engine oil products without the SIRIM certification label will not be allowed on the market after Oct 7.
