KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 — Two people were killed after two cars collided head-on at the Semangar Water Treatment Plant junction here early this morning.
The accident, which occurred at 7.09am, claimed the lives of a 47-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man, according to Harian Metro.
Both victims were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extricated by firefighters using rescue equipment.
Kota Tinggi Fire and Rescue Station Operations Commander Shahrulnizam Johari said six personnel with one fire engine were dispatched to the scene upon receiving the call.
“Both victims were confirmed dead at the scene by Ministry of Health paramedics and later handed over to the police for further action,” he said in a statement today.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the police.
District Police Chief, Superintendent Yusof Othman, is expected to issue a statement soon.
