PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim says the government will set the price of RON95 petrol at RM1.99 from Sept 30 onwards.

, who is also Finance Minister, says the move will benefit more than 16 million Malaysians and that all Malaysian citizens with a valid driving licence were eligible for the RON95 subsidy.

Earlier, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan was reported to have said that the targeted subsidy for RON95 petrol would be rolled out at the end of September.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali had also said the RON95 targeted subsidy would use multiple payment mechanisms and not depend solely on the physical MyKad.

“While eligibility will be tied to the MyKad, the actual purchase does not depend on just one payment method,” he told reporters here Sunday (Sept 21). – Bernama
