JERUSALEM, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) — The Israeli government on Sunday announced the establishment of a special national council for artificial intelligence (AI), the Finance Ministry said in a statement.
The AI council will be established as a support unit at the Prime Minister’s Office, with a budget of 120 million shekels (about 35.9 million U.S. dollars) for the 2025-2026 period.
The council’s main priorities include recruiting top AI talent, developing advanced computing infrastructure, and integrating AI applications across government systems.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a separate statement issued by his office that “the role of this council will be to accelerate the AI research and turn Israel into one of the world’s leading countries in the field.”
