KUALA LUMPUR: A viral TikTok video showing several Yamaha RXZ motorcycles being hoisted to the fourth floor of a walk-up flat using an electric hoist crane has sparked a heated debate online.

The video, posted by TikTok user @UmpMotor about a week ago following the RXZ Grand Gathering 7.0, captured the moment a group of men carefully lifted three classic RXZs — now considered rare and no longer in production — to a unit on the top floor.

According to the clip, the group used a 500kg-capacity hoist crane, reportedly purchased online, to transport the machines from ground level to a spot just outside the flat.

The move was said to be aimed at preventing the prized motorcycles from being stolen at the shared parking area below.

Within days, the video racked up over 92,000 likes, 22,000 shares, and 2,000 comments, drawing a flood of reactions — both critical and supportive.

Some praised the creativity behind the effort. TikTok user @asalkanbukanewalaun wrote: “Even though this hobby has no benefit, at least they’re not misusing the lift or damaging it. I think that’s admirable.”

Another, @MarkAbe, said: “Only those living in flats will understand. If you park downstairs, the risk of theft is high. Better to struggle a little than lose your property.”

Others, however, were more sceptical.

@amithebrave, questioned the claim of RXZ’s so-called rarity: “They say it’s rare, but at events there are 100,000 of them. Not rare if they’re everywhere. Some people are just fooled.”

Meanwhile, @naz poked fun: “Exalting a rusty old bike like it’s a treasure… maybe in the whole world he’s the only one with it.”

In response, UmpMotor himself joined the discussion, telling followers the bikes are only used occasionally: “The RXZ is only ridden once or twice a year, usually for gatherings. Otherwise, it stays here for safekeeping.”

Other users were simply entertained by the ingenuity. @Navin Raj asked for a review of the crane, while @WATAK_UTAMA inquired about the model used.

@UmpMotor, later replied: “Got it from the orange shop on Shopee — hoist crane, 500kg. I’ll share the video review later.”

Despite the mixed reactions, most agreed on one thing — the video showed just how far enthusiasts would go to protect their beloved RXZs.
