PEKAN: Investigation papers involving a primary school teacher accused of molesting and sexually assaulting an 11-year-old male pupil on Sept 12 will be referred to the police legal division tomorrow.

The 45-year-old male suspect, who was arrested on Sept 13 to assist in the investigation, was released on police bail yesterday.

Pekan police chief Superintendent Mohd Zaidi Mat Zin said the findings of the investigation will be submitted to the Pahang police contingent prosecution and legal division (D5) tomorrow.

“We have recorded statements from several witnesses, and the case is still under investigation. The investigation papers will be handed over to the legal department for further advice tomorrow.

“Police have seized the suspect’s mobile phone to check for any images or videos related to the alleged sexual offences,” he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, a news portal reported that the teacher, who is attached to a school in Chini, Pekan, was arrested for allegedly committing sexual acts on a student who was part of a cultural performance trip in the district.

Zaidi said the victim’s mother lodged a report at the Pekan police headquarters on Sept 13 after her son disclosed the incident to her.

“The incident allegedly occurred when the suspect approached the boy at a hostel in Pekan at about 10pm on Sept 12. The victim claimed the suspect sexually abused him before telling him not to inform anyone.

“The victim was referred to Pekan Hospital, but medical checks revealed no physical injuries,” he said.

Zaidi said that the suspect was detained at the Pekan police headquarters about 10.15pm on Sept 13, and his mobile phone was seized. The suspect also tested negative for drugs.

He said the case is being investigated for physical sexual assault and for inciting a child to commit an act of gross indecency.
