KUALA TERENGGANU: A civil servant pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court here today to three charges of accepting bribes amounting to RM2,100 in 2023.

Muhammad Maududi Abd Rashid, 36, entered the plea before Judge Nazlyza Mohd Nazri.

Nazlyza, however, set Sept 30 for sentencing and allowed the accused to be released on bail of RM7,000 with one surety.

According to the charges, he was accused of receiving RM700 each on July 5, Aug 7 and Sept 5, 2023, from an organisation connected to his work, at a bank in Jerteh.

The offence was framed under Section 165 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to two years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Rabiatul Addawiah Mohd Noorlee prosecuted while the accused was not represented.
