KUALA LUMPUR: The Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) has contributed over RM150,000 to upgrade facilities at Masjid As-Salam in Kem Lok Kawi, creating a refreshed space for worship and community activities.
In conjunction with Malaysia Day and Malaysian Armed Forces Day, the Defence Ministry and the Armed Forces through its Fifth Infantry Division and in collaboration with LTAT, launched initiatives under the Kem Santuni Madani and Sekolah Angkat Madani programmes in Kem Lok Kawi, Sabah.
Mock cheques total’ing RM50,000 were presented to Sekolah Kebangsaan Kem Lok Kawi in Kota Kinabalu and Sekolah Kebangsaan Kem Tentera in Sandakan under LTAT’s Sekolah Angkat Madani initiative.
Supported by LTAT and over 14 of its group companies, the programme now covers 38 schools in the Armed Forces’ camps nationwide, improving learning resources for children of armed forces personnel.
The total allocation stands at RM950,000.
Yayasan LTAT also provided RM15,000 in direct financial aid to 30 underprivileged armed forces’ families in Kem Lok Kawi facing critical health challenges.
The visit highlighted LTAT’s ongoing contributor benefit briefing and financial literacy programme, which has reached more than 40,000 Armed Forces’ members nationwide since December 2023.
The fund also expressed its support for the people of Sabah amid the ongoing heavy rains and flooding.
LTAT chief executive Mohammad Ashraf Md Radzi said the community’s resilience motivates the fund to give back even more and to make sure that everyone receives the help they need.
“We stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Sabah in these challenging times. LTAT prays for calm and safety, and we will continue to do our part to support Armed Forces families as well as the wider community affected,” he said.
