Woman, 73, drowns after jumping into sea near Johor Berjaya Waterfront

JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 21 —A 73-year-old woman was found drowned in waters near Berjaya Waterfront, Stulang Laut, here last night.

Johor Bahru Selatan police chief ACP Raub Selamat said the incident was reported at about 9.10 pm after a witness saw the victim suddenly jump into the sea.

“Acting on the information, a police team from Taman Pelangi station and firefighters from Larkin station were deployed to the scene. The victim’s body was retrieved at 9.30 pm,” he said in a statement today.

“The victim was confirmed dead by a medical officer from Sultanah Aminah Hospital. The body was sent to the Forensic Unit for post-mortem after undergoing X-ray and health screening. The next of kin have been informed for identification,” he said.

He added that the case has been classified as a Sudden Death Report (SDR). — Bernama
