KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 42 resolutions were passed at the 46th Asean Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), the highest number ever adopted.

Outgoing AIPA secretary-general Siti Rozaimeriyanty Datuk Abdul Rahman said the record figure reflected the substantive discussions held across AIPA’s six standing committees, covering issues ranging from political-security and economic integration to social inclusivity, youth empowerment and cooperation with Asean.

“The total number of resolutions for the 46th General Assembly is 42. This is the highest recorded so far. The discussions have been very substantive, spanning six standing committees.

“The outcome underscores the growing relevance of AIPA’s role in shaping regional priorities,” she told reporters at a press conference here today.

Siti Rozaimeriyanty said Malaysia’s presidency had also marked several milestones, including the hosting of the 5th Model AIPA, which for the first time was held outside Jakarta and involved students and youth.

She added that the assembly also featured the AIPA–Asean Hearing, which enhanced transparency in deliberations, as well as expanded dialogues with observer parliaments.

“In total, we had about 14 observer parliaments participating in dialogues with AIPA members, alongside six guest delegations and the host.

“This year’s participation has been among the largest so far, with more than 1,000 delegates, including those from Malaysia,” she said.

She congratulated Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul, who presided over the 46th General Assembly, describing the meeting as “very successful.”

At the same event, the ceremony also marked the official transfer of leadership at the AIPA Secretariat.

Siti Rozaimeriyanty concluded her term as secretary-general and was succeeded by Cambodia’s Dr Chem Widhya.
