PETALING JAYA:

The immigration department will conduct a trial run of its QR code immigration clearance system using the MyNIISe phone application on Monday.

The trial will be conducted at the Sultan Iskandar Building and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex checkpoints in Johor and only involve the car lanes for now.

Those who want to use the system must download the app on their phones, generate their individual QR code, and scan it during the immigration checks.

“After this phase, a trial run of the system in the motorcycle and pedestrian/bus passenger lanes will commence next month,” the department said in a statement.

The QR code immigration clearance system has already been in use at KLIA Terminals 1 and 2 since the start of the year.

The department said the MyNIISe app has been downloaded by more than 10,000 users as of yesterday.
