BUKIT MERTAJAM: Three men, including a salesman, have been remanded for four days to assist in investigations into a false police report claiming a RM60,000 robbery in Jalan Kampung Gajah here.
Police said the complainant, a 42-year-old man who is believed to be the mastermind, lodged a report alleging he was robbed by two men on a motorcycle.
However, investigations later revealed he had hired the duo for RM3,000 to stage the incident.
The two men, aged 33 and 38, admitted involvement but claimed they had not received the promised payment. Police later arrested the complainant, who admitted spending his customer’s money on personal use.
All three were taken to the Magistrate’s Court today, where Magistrate Aini Adilah Muhammad Faizal granted their remand until Sept 23 to assist investigations under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.
