PETALING JAYA:
Malaysian mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei overcame the odds and the noisy home crowd to shock China‘s world No 1 Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping to enter the China Masters final.
World No 3 pair Tang Jie-Ee Wei defeated the home favourites 22-24, 21-19, 21-17 in an epic 79-minute match played at the Shenzhen Arena.
They will meet Thailand’s rising stars Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Supisara Paewsamphran, the world No 4 pair who have beaten the Malaysians twice in their past three encounters.
No Malaysian has ever won the China Masters, giving Tang Jie-Ee Wei the opportunity to break the duck.
