KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 — A 27-year-old woman was found dead in a Sri Petaling condominium after building management raised the alarm over a foul smell from her unit.
Brickfields police chief ACP Hoo Chang Hook told Berita Harian officers were called around 11.35am yesterday by the landlord, who had been unable to contact the tenant. The landlord had earlier been informed of the odour by condominium staff.
“A police team went to the unit with the landlord and a locksmith. When the door was forced open, officers found the tenant’s body hanging in the bathroom,” Hoo said, as cited by the national daily.
The body was already decomposing, with a strong smell and visible skin changes. The unit was locked from the inside and the woman’s personal belongings, including her phone and handbag, were untouched.
Hoo said the woman had lived alone since the start of the year and was believed to run an online clothing business. The landlord last spoke to her on September 4 about overdue rent.
Forensic officers and a Kuala Lumpur Hospital medical officer confirmed the death at about 1.45pm. Police have classified the case as a sudden death and a post-mortem will be carried out at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz to determine the cause.
