KUANTAN: A man is feared drowned after disappearing while foraging for clams with his family along Sungai Pahang near Kampung Bukit Kenau, Pekan, this evening.

Peramu Fire and Rescue Station chief Wan Samsul Effendi Wan Mahmud said the victim, Mohd Zainuren Abd Rashid, 45, was reported to have been swept away by strong currents at around 6 pm while searching for clams with four of his family members.

“Firefighters started searching at 7.13pm around where he was swept away but failed to find the victim,” he said in a statement today, adding that his family members saw the victim, who was far away, being swept away.

“They tried looking for him around the river area, but also failed to find him,” he said.
