KUCHING, Sept 19 — A 48-year-old man who abused methamphetamine here over 11 years ago was today sentenced to six months behind bars.
Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali handed down the sentence on Noor Azlan Junaidi after he pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952, which is punishable under Section 15(1) of the same Act.
The Section provides for a maximum two years in prison, a fine not exceeding RM5,000, and immediate supervision for a period of between two years and three years.
The court also ordered Noor Azlan to be placed under supervision for a period of two years.
He tested positive for methamphetamine at the Kuching District Police Headquarters on February 4, 2014.
