Maxis Offers AI Solutions At Smart City Expo 2025 For Smarter, Safer Cities

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 (Bernama) — Maxis Bhd (Maxis), through its business-to-business (B2B) arm, Maxis Business, is showcasing solutions powered by artificial intelligence (AI) under the theme “Cities of Tomorrow Begin Today” at the Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur (SCEKL) 2025 held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

In a statement today, Maxis said the showcase brought to life three practical AI use cases, all underpinned by the company’s fast, reliable, and secure connectivity.

It said these cases also highlighted how AI can be applied to solve real-world urban challenges in areas like public safety and traffic management, ultimately fostering more liveable and secure communities.

“The first use case promotes safer roads by automatically detecting unsafe driving behaviours such as mobile phone use or failure to wear a seatbelt, which helps identify high-risk areas and common unsafe behaviours, enabling more effective road safety planning.

“The second focuses on urban mobility, using automated vehicle identification to improve adherence to traffic, access, and parking regulations, contributing to smoother traffic flow and more organised urban spaces,” it said.

Maxis added that the final case centred on public safety, highlighting how real-time video analytics can enhance situational awareness and support faster incident response times in public safety operations.

It elaborated that these next-generation use cases demonstrated Maxis Business’ commitment to ensuring industries and public sector bodies are future-ready.

“This is delivered through integrated connectivity and digital solutions, including AI, cloud, the internet of things (IoT), managed services, and cybersecurity, all powered by Maxis’ advanced mobile and fibre network,” it said.

Meanwhile, Maxis chief enterprise business officer Prateek Pashine said smart cities are about using practical, scalable solutions to solve real urban challenges; hence, their deployment-ready use cases can enable more intelligent, efficient, and secure urban management for local councils and public service agencies, benefitting the communities they serve.

“Maxis Business’ role as a digital partner is to empower both the public and private sectors by simplifying the adoption of these advanced technologies.

“We will continue to leverage our core strength in connectivity and infrastructure services and smart solutions, and work with our ecosystem partners to support Malaysia’s digital agenda,” he added.
