KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 (Bernama) — The number of flood victims housed at temporary relief centres in SABAH dropped to 2,256 people from 710 families this afternoon, compared to 2,602 people from 806 families this morning.
The Sabah State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) said all victims are housed in 16 centres in five districts – Beaufort, Penampang, Membakut, Papar and Sipitang.
“The number of flood victims relocated in Beaufort, Penampang, Papar and Sipitang shows a downward trend, while the number in Membakut remains unchanged.
“In addition, the centre in Putatan was closed this afternoon. So far, 120 villages have been affected by the floods since Sept 9,” it said in a statement.
In SARAWAK, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Disaster Management Secretariat said the number of victims in the state remains unchanged, with 13 people from three families still sheltering at the Dewan Suarah Marudi centre as of 3 pm today.
Meanwhile, based on the Department of Irrigation and Drainage’s (DID) Public Info Banjir portal, the river level at the Long Teru station in Miri remains at 9.13 metres (m), exceeding the danger level of 8m.
The river level at the Marudi station also remains at 4.38m, above the danger level of 3.25m, while Lubok Piasau II in Limbang remains at 2.24m, surpassing the danger level of 2.2m.
